Our featured pet this week is a white pit pup that is full of sweet and fun personality. His name is Raccoon. He is very smart and already knows how to play fetch. When he brings the toy or whatever you throw for him to fetch, he will sit and drop it at your feet.

A variety of dogs and cats will be available for adoption on Saturday, May 30, at PetSmart in Texarkana. Most rescue groups will be set up inside the store so be sure to look from the front to the back.

Jynx is a super laid back kitty that would love to be your house companion. Jynx is smaller than the normal size cat too. She came to the shelter as a stray. If they could only talk and tell us where they lived or what has happened to them.

Gambit is the most adorable puppy. He is just a smidge bigger than Peanut, the shelter's office mascot. Gambit weighs approximately 15 pounds. He is a brindle mix pup. His ears look like they will stand up soon too.

It is puppy and kitten season and animals are being dropped off in mass amounts at the shelter. Last week over 100 dogs and cats were adopted because of kind donations that paid for the vetting and adoption fees. Obviously that is not something that can happen every week. The Animal Care and Adoption Center in Texarkana, Ark., is our only animal shelter in town. They have a few hundred dogs and cats that need to be reclaimed or adopted. Room is always an issue at a city animal shelter. We feature an animal each week to help get the word out about many of these great pets. This week we are showcasing a Black Lab mix named Ashley. Turbo is a mix of an English bulldog and a mountain cur, which makes him a very interesting dog. He is approximately 1 and-a-half years old. He has a wonderful personality and loves his people.

This sweet shepherd mix is between one and two years old. She is very frightened to be at the shelter and would do so much better if she was in a home. She walks great on a leash and appears to be very healthy. She loves affection.
