With over 120 tornadoes reported in a four state region this past weekend and 6 dead in Oklahoma, it appears there is a wild tornado season brewing for our area. If you don't have a radio or TV handy, what are the danger signs to look for of approaching severe weather? Are you prepared? Does you family know what to do if an F3 is coming down your street?

It has been a busy week for storms in our neck of the woods. Monday, Tuesday and even overnight on Wednesday, which was unexpected. I had to pull a tree out of the road to get to work Wednesday morning. This is what the storms looked like from my back porch:

So, after a long day of dealing with storm watches, then warnings, I was anxious to get home and microwave a frozen dinner or something, but noooo.  I got home to realize I had no electricity.  Then I realized we had no electric wires!

The National Weather Service reported at least two separate “large and extremely dangerous” tornadoes south of Dallas and Fort Worth.

There have been a few tornadoes touch down around the Dallas Metroplex today.  One that struck in Arlington, Texas was caught on video tossing 18 Wheelers around like play toys.  Major damage has been reported around the DFW area, including a nursing home destroyed in Arlington.

Another round of severe weather is possible across the Four States Area again today. Yesterday several trees were blown down on homes in the area including one in Nash Texas just outside Texarkana.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Bowie and Miller counties until 4 p.m.

It’s that time of year again when we all need to keep an eye on the sky… Severe Weather season in the Ark-La-Tex.  Some of the most deadly and powerful tornadoes in North America history occur in the Spring.  We have some safety tips and pointers for you listed here.

Once again the National Weather Service is predicting a deluge of rain to hit the area later today thru Wednesday.  Forecasts call for a chance of 6 to 8 inches of rain across a large portion of the Four States Area including Texarkana. Isolated spots across portions of the area could see up to 10 inches in the next few days...

There is a good chance that we will be getting some pretty significant rainfall over the next couple of days.  Here are a couple of maps with forecasts for the potential of both severe weather, and heavy rainfall thru Wednesday.

Heavy rains are expected in the Ark-La-Tex thru this weekend, with 6 to 8 inches possible in the Texarkana area.  The heaviest of the rains are expected in two waves with the first dropping into the area Thursday night.
