Correctional Officer and Jail Visitor Arrested for Possession of Marijuana

A correctional officer and a visitor at the Bowie County Jail Annex in Texarkana have been arrested for possession of marijuana.

According to the Bowie County Sheriff's Office, Correctional Officer Shanice Yvonne Poindexter, 24, and jail visitor Gresheka Shanna Merritt, 24, were both charged with possession of Marijuana under two ounces.

The drugs were discovered in both individuals' vehicles after a search was conducted in the employee parking area by the sheriff department's newest canine, Deputy Lennox, alerted on the vehicles. Consent to search was granted, and authorities say the marijuana was then discovered.

Judge Nancy Talley set the two suspects' bonds at  $3,000 apiece.
