On this day in Black History, Oprah Winfrey became the first African American woman to host a nationally syndicated talk show.

Please keep in mind that this is someone who was abused, raped and abandoned by her mother as a child. To add injury to insult, she became pregnant by a family member at a very young age…. YET her calling is what excelled her far beyond any horrific experiences of her childhood.

And SHE said it best-

"There is no greater gift you can give or receive than to honor your calling. It’s why you were born, and how you become most truly alive."

Whether you run from it or run to it, YOU HAVE A CALLING ON YOUR LIFE. And it’s up to you to figure out what that calling is before your time here on earth is up. Your past experiences have nothing to do with what God has placed on the inside of you and what He’s calling you to do. What a sad day it would be to get to heaven and discover that you left an entire lifetime of unfinished work here on earth. If Oprah can adhere to her calling and change the world DESPITE what she went through, so can you.
