The gambling proposal's package was passed last night, which means gambling is now legal in Arkansas!

Driving Arkansas Forward is a ballot initiative to bring two new casinos to Arkansas and to expand gaming in Oaklawn and Southland. Alex Gray, counsel for the committee, said Arkansans approved the constitutional amendment because they responded to the committee's message to keep tax dollars in the state, create jobs and foster economic development.

"This is really exciting." Gray said.

Jerry Cox, president of the Family Council Action Committee, on the other hand, opposed Issue 4, and lamented that "it's next to impossible to win" without money to fight the advertising blitz by the casino forces.

"We would have mounted an aggressive campaign if we had the money, but people didn't step up and provide the money," he said.
