Harvest Regional Food Bank will unveil a new, state-of-the-art refrigerated truck on Wednesday, December 21, that will allow the food bank to provide more fresh and frozen foods to food insecure families in Southwest Arkansas and Northeast Texas.

Thanks to a grant of $117,000 from the Walmart Foundation, the additional truck will increase the food bank’s capacity to receive and distribute frozen and perishable foods.

“The heart of what we do each day is providing hunger relief to food insecure families, children and seniors,” said Camille Coker Wrinkle, CEO of Harvest Regional Food Bank. “Our ability to provide that relief is directly tied to the amount of food we can safely accept and then deliver to those in need.”

According to a recent “Map the Meal Gap” study there are 60,000 individuals struggling with hunger in southwest Arkansas and northeast Texas. The new freezer space will allow the food bank to distribute more nutritious foods to those in need.

A presentation event is scheduled for Wednesday, December 21, at 10AM at the Harvest Regional Food Bank Warehouse located at 3120 E. 19th St. in Texarkana, Ark.
