Say a little prayer for the folks in Houston today. The rain is still going after having dumped more than 16 inches in the last 24 hours.

All of Houston's bayous, ponds, lakes and rivers are out of their banks and rising fast. This is the worst flooding I have ever seen in the Bayou City, and may break several records before it's all done.

I talked on the phone this morning with my mother and told her to pack a small bag with important stuff like toiletries, a change of clothes and go next door to her neighbor's two-story house if water starts coming in her's. She lives on the west side of Houston near the Addicks Dam area. The water is already halfway up her yard, the highest it's ever been since she's lived there.
