After years of earning acclaim for his screenwriting skills (though he was weirdly snubbed by the 2016 Oscars for Steve Jobs), Aaron Sorkin is set to make his directorial debut on Molly’s Game. Set in the underground world of high-stakes poker, Sorkin’s long-developing passion project features a strong leading role for the right woman — and that woman might just be Jessica Chastain.

Per The Wrap, Chastain has been offered the eponymous role in Molly’s Game, and though she has yet to formally accept the offer, the actress is reportedly enthusiastic about the role and is trying to fit Sorkin’s film into her increasingly busy schedule — that schedule includes Freckle Films, Chastain’s newly-launched production company.

Sorkin will direct Molly’s Game based on his screenplay, adapted from Molly Bloom’s memoir, titled Molly’s Game: From Hollywood’s Elite to Wall Street’s Billionaire Boys Club, My High-Stakes Adventure in the World of Underground Poker. Bloom was a failed Olympic hopeful who took a year off before heading to law school and spent some time waitressing, where she discovered a very specific talent. Soon, Bloom was hosting Hollywood’s most exclusive, high-stakes poker game for elite clientele, including Ben Affleck, Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio, with hundreds of millions of dollars placed through her eight-year poker career.

It would be a great part for Chastain, who has made a career out of playing bold characters in films like Zero Dark Thirty and The Martian. Up next, she appears in The Huntsman: Winter’s War and The Zookeeper’s Wife.
