‘King of the Hill’ Revival Under Consideration at FOX

King of the Hill Revival FOX

More often than not, TV revivals feel like a quick chance to reunite impossibly well-kept stars, but a King of the Hill return … might make sense? FOX has apparently had several conversations with creator Mike Judge for another trip to Arlen, Texas, we tell you what.

Keep in mind that Judge is currently busy with HBO’s Silicon Valley (as well as an in-development Cinemax cartoon), but FOX boss Dana Walden announced at the TCA press tour that they’ve had at least some discussions with Judge and co-creator Greg Daniels to revisit Hank, Bobby, Peggy, Bill, Dale, Boomhauer and the rest. As Walden puts it, the famously-conservative satire might have a unique perspective on 2017:

I would like to explore that. We had a very preliminary conversation given what’s going on in the country, they had a point of view about how those characters would respond. But again, it was one meeting and I hope to revisit it. The meeting was probably two and a half months ago. They’re both very busy and it was really just a first exploratory, ‘Are you excited about this? Is there potential in that future?’ And they were both excited about it but they’re working on a lot of different things individually, so it’s about finding time.

The original King of the Hill aired from 1997 to 2009, though the animation process could place any revival at least a year away. There’s a great King of the Hill piece from Junkee you should read in the meantime, but what might Hank Hill have to say about 2017? That year ain’t right.
