Memorial Day weekend unofficial marks the beginning of the summer vacation season. We all look forward to a three day weekend, but we must always remember what Memorial Day is really about. There are a few ceremonies going on this weekend in Texarkana to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 

According to The Texarkana Area Veterans Council website, they will host a ceremony Sunday, May 28 at 2PM at East Memorial Gardens off of Highway 67 East.

On Monday, May 29 starting at 11AM There will be a service at the Miller County Courthouse. Following the ceremony, there will be a community Memorial Day walk from the courthouse to the Korea-Vietnam Memorial off State Line Ave and West 7th Street where another service will be held.

Later in the day at 1PM another ceremony will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery on Highway 67 West hosted by Texarkana Funeral Home.
