Peace Officers Memorial and Appreciation Ceremony

The 5th Annual City of Texarkana, Texas Peace Officers Memorial and Appreciation Ceremony is this Wednesday May 8th.The event is being held at the John Thomas Theatre inside the Sullivan Performing Arts Center. That venue is located on the campus of Texas High School at 3941 Summerhill Road. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.

Texas side Mayor Bob Bruggeman, along with City Council members, the City Manager and other civic leaders invite all citizens to come to this free event to honor police officers and fallen Texas Peace Officers.

A reception will follow the ceremony. Also at the event, the Texarkana, Texas Police Department's newest K9, Boston,  an 18 month old Shephard, Malinois mix will be presented. Boston is replacing K9 Ide, who is being placed into retirement following five years of service due to a debilitating spinal injury that prevents him from performing the duties of K9.
