Texarkana, Texas Police are investigating a Monday night shooting incident that left one person hospitalized.

Police say the shooting occurred at an apartment complex in the 4600 block of Elizabeth Street.

Officers were dispatched to a call of a shooting at the Town North Apartments at 10:46 last night but were unable to locate a victim or any evidence of a shooting when they arrived. However, a short time later, officers were advised of a shooting victim who had been dropped off at the emergency room at Christus St. Michael Health System -- a 21-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to his chest.

Authorities say there are several conflicting accounts as to what happened. They also say a man, who later arrived at the emergency room waiting area, was identified as a possible suspect by witnesses.  He was transported to the police department to be interviewed by detectives.

The victim underwent overnight surgery, and is expected to survive.

The investigation continues in connection with this shooting, but no arrests have been made.
