Starting Today, Work On Interstate 30 Near Hope Will Have Traffic Shift Lanes

Improvements to Interstate 30 in Hempstead County will require a lane shift for westbound traffic beginning this week, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Beginning July 19, improvements to the westbound lanes will require routing westbound traffic onto one of the eastbound lanes, resulting in both eastbound and westbound traffic utilizing the eastbound lanes only, weather permitting.

The lane shift will be located west of Hope between mile marker 18 and mile marker 22.  Concrete barrier walls will be in position to separate eastbound and westbound traffic.  Westbound traffic will use median crossovers at each end of the construction zone.

The traffic shift will be in place for approximately three months.

The construction project will reconstruct the main travel lanes on four miles of Interstate 30, rehabilitate six bridges and include installation of wire rope safety fence.  The project was awarded to Redstone Construction Group, Inc. for approximately $30.4 million.
