We may be breaking out the lifeboats now but believe it or not, we didn't get rained out on the second Saturday of March! Our plans were to shoot the Steel Challenge match even if it was raining Saturday March 10th, but to all of our surprise we ended up with a fantastic day to shoot. Sorry for being a little late with this report on the match but last week I was filling in for John Williams doing the news, plus doing my regular work around the station so... I've got some catching up to do.

Back to the match... sunshine and cool temperatures were in store as we set up the the 5 stages early Saturday morning. Our turnout was a little lower than the first month, but I think the threatening weather had a lot to do with that. We had 28 shooters in all and everyone had a great time as usual.
The scores below are of the top 5 finishers in each division that competed this time:
Centerfire Iron Sights
  1. Jim "Weaver" Standridge
  2. Scott Shirk
  3. Charlie Spiva
  4. Dennis Shirk
  5. John Haile

Rimfire Iron Sights

  1. Josh Blackstone
  2. Kelly Murray
  3. Carlton Bailey
  4. Carlton Bailey (used a pistol and a rifle)
  5. Julie O'Neal

Rimfire Optic

  1. Richard Jones
  2. Jim Snyder
  3. Tim O'Neal
  4. Shane Johnson
  5. Brad Tucker
Congratulations to all who came to play the TGC way! The Texarkana Gun Club has Steel Challenge matches on the second Saturday of each month through October. For more information see the website, www.TexarkanaGunClub.org

If you plan on making it to any of our matches, especially in the spring, it would be a great idea to follow us either on Facebook or Twitter. Those two sites are our only way to let you know if a match gets cancelled on short notice due to really bad weather or any other unforeseen problem.
