There are some special events going on at the Texarkana, Ark., School District during March.

The Arkansas High School Redline will present the Annual Miss AHS Pageant. The
pageant will feature the talents of high school contestants. The event will take place in the Student Union at AHS on Saturday, March 5, at 7PM. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults.

During Black History Month, eighth grade literacy students have researched and produced pieces of work that will be exhibited in the student-created Black History Walk-through Museum. North Heights Junior High students, in partnership with the Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council, have developed an interactive museum that will take tourists on a journey of education and enlightenment. Exhibit tours will take place Wednesday, March 9, on the campus.

On Friday, March 11, at 9:30AM more than 170 seventh and eighth grade students
will be inducted into the National Honor Society. The National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding junior high and high school students. National Honor Society serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.

Arkansas High School and Washington Academy Charter School – DECA students will participate in the Muscular Dystrophy Bowl-a-Thon from 4-5:30PM on Wednesday, March 9, at Holiday Bowl. Staff and students will compete for the coveted trophy. Proceeds from the event will support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
