Where will your pets be sleeping this holiday season? Chances are they will be somewhere warm and comfy, smelling the wonderful odors of a Thanksgiving dinner. The animals at the Animal Care and Adoption Center in Texarkana will not have that same type of enjoyment.

Sweet Amanda is a sweet dog that will make a great pet for a single person or a family. She is approximately one year old and looks like a mix of Lab and Shepherd. She weighs about 25 pounds. Amanda is a little shy but will warm up  quickly once she gets into a home. She has an irresistible face!

Annie is a beautiful 3 year old, spayed dog that currently lives at the animal shelter in Texarkana. She is very calm and mild-mannered. Annie is house trained and walks great on a leash. Annie was adopted recently but the manager of the apartment complex mistook her for a pitt and said she couldn't stay. Annie is great with kids. First let me say: Please consider adopting from the shelter before you "purchase" an animal from a pet store, breeder or even a rescue. I will explain more about this in a bit. Daniel, a stray beagle miraculously survived being euthanized in a gas chamber, and his handler stopped by ‘Good Morning America’ to make an appeal for a permanent home. He’s earned it. They now have hundreds of applications to adopt Daniel. Wouldn't it be great of those applicants would now adopt a dog from the shelter?

Today is "Adopt the Internet Day".  The people at Petfinder.com are looking for animal lovers to spread the word.  There are thousands of adorable homeless pets up for adoption.
