Obo is an 11 month old Terrier-Pitt mix that has been on the adoption floor for some time now. He is very energetic and has an outgoing personality. This week's featured pet is an adult shepherd mix from the shelter. He is already neutered, which means the adoption fee is less than $60. Sarge is good on a leash and loves affection. He is a great guard dog and no one will arrive at your home without him letting you know that you have company. His bark is scary but he is a sweetheart.

Because rain and stormy weather are expected this weekend, Oktoberfest has been rescheduled. The event is now set for 10AM on Saturday, November 14, at Front Street Plaza in downtown Texarkana.

Three dogs at the animal shelter will soon be taking a trip out of the wrong door if they are not adopted or moved into foster homes quickly. Ethan is a very smart young dog. I am shocked that he is still at the shelter. Ethan is a handsome buckskin Pit Bull. He is young and laid back, making him a good choice for a family or first time dog owner.

Oktoberfest is coming to Texarkana this month. It's an arts and crafts festival with food and craft beers from all over Arkansas.

Ruby is a beautiful brindle pup that looks to be mixed with some sort of smaller breed, possible terrier. When she first came into the shelter she was very skinny and shy. Now she is playful and loves to give hugs and kisses. She doesn't always come up to the front of the kennel and in dim light, you may miss that she is even in the kennel!

Sugar is a beautiful male Akita that is at our local animal shelter. He has a strong personality and may not be suitable for a home with small children. Sugar got along great with all of the small dogs that were in the exercise area. He carries himself in a way that lets you know he is the boss.

Odie is a gorgeous Catahoula dog. He has an even temperament. He is known as the "lazy dog" at the shelter but trust me, this boy has enough energy to do whatever you have in mind for the day. He is just pretty laid back the rest of the time.

Today's featured pet is an adorable, sweet puppy. He came into the shelter a week or so ago and was spunky but now he is not. It could be for many different reasons, some being very simple to fix and others may require more expense and recovery time. The shelter does not have the funds to take dogs to the vet so he will need to be rescued to be saved.

Matron came to the shelter with babies, adorable babies. Those little ones have since been adopted but momma dog Matron is still waiting for her ticket to freedom.
