The Texas High Student Council has a streak of excellence going and it has continued this year.

For 28 consecutive years, the Texas High School Student Council has claimed rights to the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) District 19 Sweepstakes Award for their efforts on behalf of the school and the community.Other awards received during the conference along with student chairperson names are:

Outstanding DASH (Drug, Alcohol, Safety & Health) – Hannah Hayes and Taylor Post, Chairs;

Outstanding Pride & Patriotism – Anna Catherine Boudreaux and Chelsea Villanueva, Chairs;

Outstanding Energy and Environment – Alex Markham and Tyler Snell, Chairs;

Outstanding Community Service – Caroline May, Chairs;

Outstanding Student Council – Anna Graves, Senior Class President;

Additionally, the THS Student Council was elected as the Secretary School for the 2016-17 school year.

Criteria for these awards include a minimum of two projects from different areas, maintain regular meetings, fully developed governing constitution and project documentation.  Texas High had a total of 135 projects.

Organized in 1937, The Texas Association of Student Councils is a non-profit organization serving high school and middle level student councils in Texas.  Its purpose is to develop leadership abilities in students, promote democracy as a way of life and establish and uphold high standards for local councils.
