The entirety of Walking Dead Season 7 promotion hinges on the identity of Negan’s victim from the Season 6 finale, but what happens when that mystery resolves? We’re going right back to dread, according to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who implies that Negan’s kill list might double in the October 23 premiere.

Take this with a grain of salt for the moment, as despite whatever online rumors and consensus have sprouted up around the identity of Negan’s victim from set reports, rarely do we have cast and crew breaking ranks on spoilers. Some have observed Greg Nicotero alluding to multiple deaths for the premiere, while Jeffrey Dean Morgan now also casually implies as much in an interview with Den of Geek:

“Negan’s not just going to kill one person in [the premiere],” Morgan says. “He’s not afraid of bashing in skulls.”

Mind you, Morgan’s words could also be taken to mean that Negan kills another person not necessarily from the woodland lineup; whether one of his own men (he does have a temper), or perhaps another citizen of Alexandria. Still, killing two from the group would seem like the kind of subversion The Walking Dead springs for, especially as the comic character suffering Lucille’s wrath is heavily rumored for the series as well.

All will be revealed on October 23, but in the meantime , check out the latest clip from Season 7 premiere “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be” below.
