According to reports, the average tax refund this year is $2,815. That’s good news for a lot of people. If you are one of the lucky ones, how will people spend your extra cash?

The most common answers are on a vacation, adding it to savings and of course there is always paying off debt. If you are waiting until today, the tax filing deadline, chances are that you owe money to the government. I waited until today just because I’m a busy person and apparently procrastination is my middle name. My husband and I are finally getting a refund from both the federal government and the state folks. A couple of years ago April 15 meant something very different to us.

We already have a plan for our refund. It is going toward a tractor to help out on our five acres of grass mowing and dirt pile moving. Our riding mower just couldn't handle such a big area and it gave out last year so we push mowed it. Not this year! So what will you spend your refund on?

Since the average tax refund this year is $2,815, and a new survey asked people what they plan on doing with it.  Here are the top six answers:

1.  33 percent will spend it on a vacation.

2.  32 percent will put it into savings.

3.  31 percent will pay off debt.

4.  2 percent will put it towards buying a home.

5.  1 percent will go on a shopping spree.

6.  And 1 percent will buy something for their kids.
