The Young Professionals at Texas A&M University-Texarkana have evolved into a new group with a broader vision and a wider reach.

The organization revealed its new name, Eagle Impact, at a membership and networking event Feb. 2 at the home of Vickers and Whitney Fuqua of Texarkana, Texas.

“In the past six years, our members have provided a tremendous amount of support for our students, faculty, staff and campus community,” said Courtney Boeckmann, development officer at A&M-Texarkana. “We are excited to continue to expand the vision and reach of our organization. We hope the entire Texarkana region will want to be a part of our future.”

Eagle Impact is comprised of individuals who are actively working to support and enhance the university’s commitment toward student success, academic excellence and community leadership.

Established in 2011, the goal of the organization is to assist A&M-Texarkana in providing the best university experience for its students through support of the student life and athletic programs on campus.

Recent projects include

  • providing scholarships to aid in tuition costs;
  • establishing an endowed scholarship;
  • providing weather shelters for the A&M-Texarkana soccer field;
  • funding tennis uniforms for the Eagles tennis teams;
  • funding for the Best Week Ever welcome week; and
  • providing a storage building for soccer equipment.

The group’s signature fundraising event, “Hats and Horses: A Day at the Derby” is set for Kentucky Derby day, May 6, at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Arkansas.
