Radio Host Angie Martinez Suffers Shattered Vertebrae in Severe Car Accident

Angie Martinez is in recovery after suffering injuries in a horrific car crash.

On Monday morning (Nov. 4), the voice of New York used her social media accounts to inform her fans that she's recuperating after being involved in a severe car accident.

"I’ve always believed in angels and mine was with me the other morning. I was in a severe car accident and sustained a fractured lumbar and shattered vertebrae,” Martinez said in separate Instagram and Twitter posts.

The syndicated radio personality, who resigned from Hot 97 and made the move to Power 105.1 in 2014, hasn't released any other details from the accident, so it is unknown where it happened. At the moment, all she's saying is that she's doing her best to recover as quickly as possible.

"I'm recovering and will be for some time, but I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to do that. Wanted you all to hear it from me first and know that although this is a different time, I am in the best spirits possible and determined to be back and better than ever!"

News of the car crash arrives less than a month Martinez's new TV series, Untold Stories of Hip Hop, debuted on WeTV. Thus far, she's interviewed rappers like A$AP Rocky, Cardi B, Fat Joe, DJ Khaled and more about stories they've never told anyone before.
