With over a decade of experience in both radio and television news broadcasting, Iris brings authenticity, energy, and heart to everything she does, on and off the mic. She spent more than 7 years at El Paso’s ABC affiliate, KVIA, where she worked as a reporter and weather anchor. During her time there, she created the beloved on-air franchise Sunday Funday Moments, showcasing uplifting stories that celebrated the Borderland community. She was Montwood High School’s 2021 Outstanding Alumnus and was also awarded the community spirit award for El Paso Community College’s 13th Annual Literary Fiesta and was named one of EPCC’s Hispanic Heritage Mentors by El Paso Community College’s Diversity and Inclusion program for her work within the community. In 2024, Iris was named Best Radio Personality by The City Magazine, a testament to her connection with listeners and her impact on the El Paso airwaves. Each morning at 7:10 a.m., listeners tune in for her crowd-favorite segment featuring hilarious pickup lines that start the day with a laugh because who doesn't need a little cringe-flirty humor with their coffee? Off the air, Iris is a proud mom, a mental health advocate, and the founder of Mija, Yes you can, a local nonprofit that empowers women and girls to believe in their potential.
