Charlie Hunnam Says He Turned Down ‘Game of Thrones’ Cameo
Game of Thrones cameos are rarely so intrusive as to draw one out of the scene; more often background musicians performing their craft, or the odd extra. That said, we’d almost certainly have noticed Charlie Hunnam, as the Sons of Anarchy star claims he’d once been offered an appearance.
Making the rounds for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword press (good luck, buddy), Hunnam told The Sun that he’d love to appear on Game of Thrones in one of the remaining seasons (or their four spinoffs). In fact, he’d even been given the chance at some point:
I would love to do a Game of Thrones cameo. They offered me a cameo on that show a little while ago, but I was shooting something else, so I wasn’t able to do it. But maybe in the future, who knows.
For what it’s worth, Hunnam has been talking about his interest in a Game of Thrones role since at least 2012, though so far as we can see, this is the first he’s mentioned being offered a role. Meanwhile, actual cameos for the coming season will include Ed Sheeran playing a jaunty tune for Maisie Williams’ Arya Stark, and even New York Mets pitcher Noah “Thor” Syndergaard.
Sorry, Charlie. Maybe Season 8? Game of Thrones Season 7 will premiere on July 16.
