Butter Recalled Over Bacteria Risk in Arkansas Stores
- Cabot Creamery Recalls Butter Distributed in Arkansas
- Action You Should Take
Cabot Creamery has issued a voluntary recall of certain butter products due to the potential presence of coliform bacteria, which can indicate unsanitary processing conditions. While coliforms are usually harmless, they may suggest contamination. No illnesses have been reported so far.
The recall is for Cabot Creamery 8oz Extra Creamy Premium Butter, Sea Salted:
Expiration date: 09/09/25
Code: 072 or 073
Time stamp range: 22:00-00:30

The butter was distributed in Arkansas, along with Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Products were sold under the Cabot brand as well as store brands for Market Basket, Price Chopper, and Shaw’s.
According to the recall alert, the parent company has identified the cause and has taken the appropriate internal actions to fix it. No other products were affected.
What Do You Do?
Consumers who purchased butter with the affected lot number should not consume it. The product can be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Cabot Creamery, based in Vermont, says the recall is precautionary and reflects the company’s commitment to food safety. The recall was initially issued on March 26, 2025.
