A 17-year-old was arrested by the Arkansas State Police (ASP) on Sunday, October 21 for charges related to a violent road rage incident on I-30 in North Little Rock.
The teen is now facing charges of Criminal Attempt to Commit Capital Murder and First-Degree Battery.
The incident took place on Saturday, October 12, when a 39-year-old man from Maumelle was shot in the eye while driving behind the suspect at around 1:30 AM, near the I-30 McCain Boulevard exit. The victim received treatment at a local hospital and has since been released.
ASP Colonel Mike Hagar stated in a press release,
We hope this incident illustrates for the public that when they report a road rage incident and follow through by making a report, the Arkansas State Police will do everything in their power to get justice and remove violent individuals from the streets. There are serious consequences for senseless violent acts like this.
The Jacksonville teen, who is being charged as an adult, also faces additional charges, including committing a Terroristic Act, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle, and Minor in Possession of a Firearm. He is currently being held at the Pulaski County Detention Center.
