The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, just like the rest of us, was not really busy to start the week since most of us were staying home to avoid the nasty driving conditions. BCS deputies responded to a wide range of calls for service during the reporting period. Deputies investigated two burglaries of buildings, four theft-related offenses (including one theft exceeding $30,000), and one case of criminal mischief. There were seven assault-related incidents, including family violence cases, an assault on a public servant, and an injury involving an elderly individual.

Deputies also handled five animal-related cases, involving dangerous dogs, dog bites, and animal cruelty. Four warrant service arrests and three probation violation arrests were made, along with three jail sanctions for controlled substances and non-payment of child support. Law enforcement addressed four prohibited item cases in correctional facilities, two abandoned vehicles, and one death investigation. Additional calls included harassment, welfare concerns, suspicious circumstances, fraud involving identifying information, sexual assault, and multiple child pornography-related offenses, all of which remain under investigation.

Sheriff Jeff Neal reports a total of 59 arrests last week in Texarkana and around the county, 13 brought in by BCSO deputies, and 46 from other law enforcement agencies in the area.
