It has been a minute, or maybe a year or so since I've had the chance to follow up with someone's "Life hack" to see if it worked, and I'm happy to report this one did.

Recently I have been talking to my wife about how nasty my two favorite travel coffee mugs were getting and how it seemed to be affecting the coffee's taste, very bitter. It didn't make sense to me, seeing as how they are supposed to be "stainless steel", and no matter how much elbow grease was applied, the stubborn stains wouldn't come out.

My wife Donna, God love her, she found a super-duper easy way to clean them without all that scrubbing, and it works! Maybe we're a little behind here, or maybe you're like us and have just never seen this before. If you are a senior citizen, then you may already have everything you need to do this in your bathroom medicine cabinet.

Fizzy Denture Cleaner Hack

That's right, denture cleaners, and guess what, it doesn't seem to matter which one you use;

• Efferdent
• Polident
• I Don't Know dent (Equate)
• Other stores generic dent
• Doller Store dent

We picked up a $2.00ish box of Equate to give it a try fully expecting to do absolutely nothing.

Surprise!

Worked like a charm. Here's a shot of one of my cups after the cleaning...

You can see this mug has been scrubbed mercilessly for several years, but there are no coffee stains. They literally fell out of it in the first rinse.

Step by step:

1. Rinse out the nasty cup.
2. Fill the cup with hot water.
3. Drop in 2, 3, or 4 of the fizzy caps, it depends on cup size, we used two in the example here.
4. Let it sit on the counter overnight.
5. Clean and rinse with a mild detergent and a soft sponge the next day.

That's it, our cups went from being nasty-stained to looking dang-near new in one overnight cleaning. Nothing else we tried worked even close to the fizzy denture cleaning tabs.

The only sad part is that now I don't have an excuse to run into Buc-ee's and grab a new mug next time. Not that I need an excuse, I'll probably do it anyway.
