A Sticky-Sweet Donation: Sioux Honey & Harps Help Fight Hunger in NW Arkansas
You could say this is a pretty sweet story, and you would bee correct. Pardon my puns, but they also say this honey donation is enough to spread over 10 basketball courts, that's a lot of honey.
In a press release this week from Sioux Honey Co-op, the makers of Sue Bee honey based out of Sioux-City, Iowa, donated 6,480, 12 oz bottles of Sue Bee honey to a food bank in Lowell, Arkansas.
Kevin Hueser, President and CEO at Sioux Honey Co-op, said;
“Our 175-plus beekeeper owners at Sioux Honey have a shared New Year’s resolution this year, which is to donate even more honey and ‘Share Sweetness’ more than ever before in 2025"

Harps Food Stores, Arkansas’ largest employee-owned company, partnered with Sioux Honey for this donation effort. Sarah Thacker, Harps' Director of Advertising said;
"Honey is one of the most versatile foods we have, and it comes with a seemingly endless shelf life." Thacker continued, "You don’t have to keep honey refrigerated, it’s known to soothe sore throats and tame coughs, and it’s delicious on a variety of foods and in drinks for a sweet taste.”
The Beneficiary?
Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, a 501c3 organization, provides food assistance to Benton, Washington, Madison, and Carroll counties. They are also an affiliate of Feeding America and a founding member of the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance.
Julie Damer, the Director of Marketing at the Food Bank said the honey moves extremely fast out of their distribution warehouse, and that it is a popular and in-demand item. The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank supplies food to 110+ member agencies and distributed almost 15 million pounds of food in 2024.
Sweetness!
Sioux Honey plans to continue its honey donations throughout 2025 to local food pantries and food banks in communities where their beekeepers and families live.
