Panera Bread in Texarkana: Just a Few Months Away From Opening

Restaurants come and go in Texarkana, and for the longest time, we've heard that Panera Bread was coming. After doing some research, I found that all the way back to 2014, it was rumored that we would be getting the popular eatery.

Rumors of Panera Bread Have Been Going On for Years in Texarkana

After many months of speculation, nothing happened. Then, in 2016, the rumors started again, but to no avail; once again, nothing happened.

Fast forward to 2019, it began to seem more likely that it was in the works. Still, it wasn't until 2024 when Texas Roadhouse moved to the new location that it was officially announced that Panera Bread and another restaurant would be taking over the old Texas Roadhouse location on St. Michael Drive and constructing a brand-new building to house both restaurants.

When Will Panera Bread Open in Texarkana?

According to developer Brian Waxler of Green Meadow Capital. Waxler, both restaurants are set to open sometime in March 2026. Panera Bread will occupy 3,600 square feet, while First Watch will operate within 3,800 square feet of the building.

What is First Watch?

I have to admit, when I first heard the name, I thought this was some security business. However, First Watch is a breakfast-brunch style eatery with a bakery serving baked goods, sandwiches, soups, and salads.

So, it's been a long time coming, but the wait is almost over, Texarkana. We are finally getting a Panera Bread, and as a bonus, a First Watch restaurant in March 2026.
