
Safety First: Pleasant Grove ISD Names 20-Year Veteran Jake Klar as New Police Chief
Pleasant Grove Independent School District made a special announcement this week as they appointed a new Police Chief for the school district.
Jeremy “Jake” Klar as the district’s new Police Chief. Klar has over 20 years of law enforcement experience, including his time with the Texarkana Texas Police Department. He served as a Police Sergeant in both the Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions.

A Leader Focused on Safety and Service
When they say he has experience, they aren't kidding. Klar has numerous professional certifications, including training for active shooter situations to instructor credentials, and SWAT Sniper and Tactical Breach certifications. His years of training reflect his strong dedication to public safety.

Jake Klar’s leadership experience and his strong background in supervision, training, and community safety make him an outstanding choice to lead our police department. He brings a student-centered mindset and a collaborative approach to school safety that aligns perfectly with our district’s mission to ensure high levels of learning for all.

A Commitment to Community
Klar earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Leadership from Texas A&M University–Commerce and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Beyond his professional achievements, he is known for his community involvement, volunteering to provide active shooter and medical awareness training for educators and safety courses at local churches.
Klar will officially step into his new role as Pleasant Grove ISD Police Chief on October 13, 2025. Be sure to give him a big welcome!
