State Fair of Texas Returns with Sensory-Friendly Mornings in 2025
The State Fair of Texas is once again making space for families who need a calmer environment. For the seventh year, the Fair will host Sensory-Friendly Mornings on Wednesday, October 1, October 8, and October 15, from 10 AM to 1:30 PM.
What to Expect at Sensory-Friendly Mornings
During these mornings, the Fairgrounds will feature special adjustments designed to support individuals with autism, sensory processing disorders, and others who may benefit from reduced noise and visual stimulation. The program was created in partnership with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) and local organizations.
Quiet Zones and Low-Stimulation Activities
Fair organizers have put together a guided itinerary of low-stimulation exhibits and activities, available at BigTex.com/Sensory. Families can also take breaks in designated “Quiet Zones,” and from 11 AM to 1:30 PM, the Midway will operate without its usual flashing lights and booming sounds.
Special Partnership with Joni and Friends Texas
The first Sensory-Friendly Morning on October 1 will feature a special partnership with Joni and Friends Texas, a nonprofit that supports people with disabilities. Registered families attending that day may request a volunteer “buddy” for added support during their visit.

State Fair of Texas Discount Admission on Wednesdays
In addition to the sensory accommodations, Wednesdays are also the Fair’s best discount day. Guests who bring five canned food items to donate to the North Texas Food Bank will receive admission for just $7.
Fair officials encourage families to take part in the inclusive event, noting that Wednesday attendance trends also help provide a less crowded environment.
The State Fair of Texas welcomes all guests to enjoy “the Most Texan Place on Earth” in a way that’s accessible and welcoming. For full details, visit BigTex.com/Sensory.
