The City of Texarkana, Arkansas is offering free storm debris pickup and burn permits to help residents recover from our recent severe weather. The program runs from now  through Friday, April 25.

Arkansas-side residents who live within city limits can contact the Public Works Department at 870-779-4977 to schedule a debris pickup. Debris should be placed near the curb the day before the scheduled pickup. Grass clippings, leaves, and other yard waste are not included.

For those wanting to burn storm debris, a permit is still required from the Fire Marshal’s office, but the usual fee will be waived. The waiver only applies to debris caused by recent storms and does not extend to land clearing or commercial activities.

Guidelines for Storm Debris Pickup:

  • Place debris within 3 feet of the curb, not in the roadway.
  • If near a roadside ditch, place debris close, but not inside, the ditch banks.
  • No stumps, construction materials, trash, or hazardous waste.
  • Piles must be under 10 feet long and stacked neatly with larger ends aligned.

The city will not pick up debris from private property or repair lawn damage. Debris left behind after pickup is the homeowner’s responsibility. Residents should avoid blocking water drainage and ensure culverts and ditches are clear.

Only single family homes and duplexes are eligible for this pickup, apartment complexes and commercial properties are not.
