The City of Texarkana has unveiled a bold new mural at the Swanger Baseball Complex, created by nationally recognized artist and Texarkana native Will Bryant. The public is invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the artwork next Tuesday, July 1, at 11:00 AM at the newly renovated complex in Spring Lake Park.

The mural is part of the Texas Runs on Water campaign, a statewide effort by the Texas Water Foundation promoting water conservation through local storytelling and public art. Texarkana was invited to join the campaign during the final stages of the Swanger Complex renovation.

The project was made possible through a partnership between the City, the Texarkana Arts and Historic District, the Texas Water Foundation, and the Texas Lyceum.

Liz Fazio Hale, General Manager and CEO of Gulf Coast Authority, and board member for both the Texas Lyceum and the Texas Water Foundation, praised the collaboration.

“We are showing our strength in leadership for the arts, baseball, and community,” she said.

The mural celebrates the essential role water plays in sports and everyday life, from hydration to field maintenance. Bryant, whose past clients include Nike, H-E-B, and Texas A&M, said it was a personal honor to return home and contribute to the fields where he grew up playing.

“I hope the kids who play ball here feel the joy I wanted to convey,” said Bryant.

Community members attending the July 1 event can meet the artist, explore the revamped complex, and learn more about the Texas Runs on Water initiative.
