NWS Reveals Final Sleet Totals as Texarkana Moves Above Freezing

Now that the winter storm has passed and the temperature is above freezing, the roads and neighborhoods around Texarkana should begin to thaw. However, it may take a little longer for rural roads in shaded areas to return to normal.

National Weather Service Releases Overall Total of Winter Precipitation in Texarkana

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has released a report indicating that the Texarkana area received 4 inches of sleet and 0.1 inch of freezing rain. Even though we had some snow, most of the precipitation from Winter Storm Fern was sleet and ice.

Other Areas Near Texarkana Overall Total Accumulation Included the Following:

• Ashdown, Arkansas - 3 inches of sleet and a half-inch of freezing rain  and a quarter-inch of freezing rain
• De Queen, Arkansas -  3 inches of sleet and a half-inch of freezing rain  and a quarter-inch of freezing rain
• Hope, Arkansas - 3 inches of sleet and a half-inch of freezing rain  and a quarter-inch of freezing rain
• Nashville, Arkansas -  4 inches of sleet and a half-inch of freezing rain
• DeKalb, Texas - quarter-inch of freezing rain

Wednesday Weather: The weather should continue to improve in Texarkana with Wednesday's high in the low 40s, and the overnight expected to be near 30.

Thursday Weather: Partly Cloudy, high near 55, low near 30.

Friday Weather: Partly Sunny, high near 42, low near 33.

Extended Weekend Weather: Turning much colder on Saturday with a high near 34, below freezing on Saturday night with temperatures in the upper teens. On Sunday, expect the high to be near 45 with a nighttime low of 19.
