Texas A&M University-Texarkana has announced that the entrance to the new tennis pavilion will be named after the Alexander Family. It is located inside the Red River Credit Union Athletic Complex on the campus.

This decision comes after a donation was made from Dr. Ross Alexander, the university's president, and his wife Lilia, the First Lady of Texas A&M-Texarkana.

Dr. Alexander stated in a press release,

Tennis is near and dear to our family. When Lilia and I discussed how we could be a part of leading the effort to see this new complex become a reality, for us it naturally centered around tennis.

Dr. Alexander said that tennis changed his wife Lilia's life. She is originally from Bulgaria and was able to come to the United States for college through a tennis scholarship. Playing college tennis helped her earn her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Lilia Alexander said

Tennis has been such a big part of my life. I’ve played since I was a little girl. I knew eventually it would have the potential to transform my life, and it did.

Construction on the new RRCU Athletic Complex is scheduled to begin late this year or early next year. Right now it is still in the designing stage. Once completed the complex will be the home to the Eagles baseball, softball, and tennis teams. There will also be an event area, a concessions area, and a sports performance center.
