Veterans Day was a huge success on Saturday, November 8, in downtown Texarkana with a parade to start the day. The night ended with an incredible show with country star Tracy Lawrence.

Tracy Lawrence Comes Back Home for a Tribute Concert for Veterans

The concert and events were a memorial for Don Ruggles, a veteran and long-time Texarkana resident who founded LifeNet and flew mercy missions for decades.

According to Marlon from Intense Lineberry Productions, approximately 4,000 tickets were sold for the concert, and from the looks of the large crowd, it was packed. People started lining up down the street way before the gates opened at 6 pm.

Veterans were admitted for free. "We apologize for the long line, but this was our first show downtown, and we had no idea the line would build that quickly." We'll learn from this experience and do better next time."

"I just would like the City of Texarkana, Ben's Heart Ministry, the Veterans Organization, and all the sponsors who made this possible, said Marlon with Intense Lineberry Productions."

Jesse Jenkins Band Opened For Tracy Lawrence in Texarkana

The evening kicked off with local band, The Jesse Jenkins Band. Immediately following the show, Texarkana. Texas Mayor Bruggeman, Tim O' Neal, President of Eagle Distributing Texarkana Inc., honored the Ruggles family with a special memorial presentation.

After a short break, Tracy Lawrence hit the stage around 8:30 p.m. It was sort of like a homecoming for Tracy since he grew up in nearby Foreman, Arkansas. Family, friends, and fans were in attendance, swaying, dancing, and singing along to all hits.

The man who has amassed eighteen #1 hits and has sold more than 7 million albums worldwide didn't miss a beat on the Michelob Ultra Stage. He even came out for an encore performance, singing some straight-up traditional country music.

After the concert, the party kept rolling outside the gates with a performance from local favorites the Dusty Rose Band.

The best part of this event is that there were no fights or police incidents. With the success of this show, Marlon Lineberry hopes to bring more future concerts to Texarkana.
