The City of Wichita Falls is inviting residents to take part in its annual Compost Giveaway, an initiative aimed at encouraging recycling and waste reduction in the community.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wichita Falls Organics Facility, located at the city landfill on Wiley Road. Eligible residents can receive a free load of compost, provided they participate in the city’s Choose to Reuse Program. Proof of enrollment is required, shown by a city water bill that includes the $3 recycling program charge.

Wichita Falls Offers Free Compost in Fall Giveaway

Officials noted that all compost loads must be covered during transport, and that dump trucks, oversized trailers, and commercial vehicles will not be loaded.

The Compost Giveaway is part of Wichita Falls’ broader effort to divert reusable waste from the landfill. In addition to composting, the city operates several programs for both residential and commercial customers. Materials collected include yard trimmings, paper products, cardboard, wood, and food waste.
