Ever heard of The Texan? It’s like walking into Buc-ee's, but not.

First and foremost, I’m not here to hate on The Texan. I can’t blame anyone for wanting to get a piece of the travel center pie. But the below video that has been making the rounds on social media shows that it’s basically a carbon copy, but smaller.

As you can see, not only is the layout like Buc-ee's, but they also offer custom merchandise and food and snacks like Buc-ee's. For those of us who make it a point to stop at the legendary roadside giant while in the area, it’s like deja vu.

However, there is one major difference between The Texan and Buc-ee's – unlike Buc-ee's, The Texan allows commercial trucks to park there. That’s a smart move in my opinion. I know truckers who don’t like Buc-ee's simply because they can’t park there.

According to their website, The Texan was founded in 2008 by Pete and Patricia Dlugosch of Yorktown, Texas. The first location was built from the ground up. Two years later in 2010, the couple bought two smaller convenience stores in Yorktown and converted them to the Texan brand.

The Texan now boasts 16 locations across the Lone Star State, with one coming soon to College Station. I have a feeling there will be many more locations opening over the next few years as word spreads about The Texan.
