A driver received a strange pickup order and thought it would be best to call the police. Turns out, they were right.

I think the vast majority of people use delivery services for food. However, those drivers can go pick up things all over town for you. For instance over in Sweetwater, Texas an order came into one for some pretty strange items lumped together. The driver was asked to pickup the following.

    • Trash bags
    • Zip ties
    • Bleach
    • Hatchet

Sweetwater police say other suspicious items were on the order as well, but the full list has not been released. The driver thought bleach and a hatchet is a strange combo. Before making the delivery, they informed the officers they may want to go check out the residence of where this delivery was happening. Turns out it was a motel and shortly after dropping off the items. Police arrived and turns out the suspicions were right.

Sweetwater Police Credit Delivery Driver With Rescue

Turns out the person inside the room was 42-year-old Neil Cooper. He was armed and holding another individual inside of a motel room that the items were delivered to. The hostage was eventually released and Cooper is now facing several charges. Aggravated Kidnapping, as well as two active Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 warrants from the Snyder Police Department.

The driver was originally credited to be with Doordash, but the Sweetwater Police have since said that they're not with that delivery service.
