High school football in Texas is next level and brings together the community. However, this week, a football game spiraled out of control, shocking the entire crowd.

The high school JV football teams from La Vernia and Beeville went head-to-head Thursday, October 23. The game was as exciting as any other, but things quickly took a turn when a player was attacked on the field.

A video quickly circulated online showing the chaotic moment. In the video, the team is making a play, but if you look closely near the 45-yard line, you will notice something violent taking place.

The mother of the Beeville JV posted a video on Facebook with the caption:

"La Vernia football player assaulted my son with a deadly weapon. We’re in the ER now waiting for CT and X-rays. He’s hurting pretty badly with bruising. Please keep Keagan in your prayers. #laverniatx #beevilletx"

The video shows a JV La Vernia player attacking a Beeville player on the ground by ripping his helmet off and throwing it back at him.

Dr. Hensley Cone, the La Vernia Superintendent of Schools, has acknowledged the incident and stated, "We do not condone unsportsmanlike behavior." La Vernia ISD took it upon themself to report the incident to the UIL.
