A business in the state of Texas going for a long time is something to celebrate. When a milestone is reached, it is a cause for celebration. For one ice cream shop in the Lone Star State, it's been around for forty years, and the future is still very bright, and dare we say, delicious.

The Beginnings Of Amy Simmons In The Ice Cream Business

Amy Simmons had a dream while attending Tuft's University in Massachusetts. According to MySanAntonio, the goal in Simmons life was to become a doctor. The only constant in life is change however, and those wheels of change started slowly after Simmons took a job at Steve's, which was coincidentally, you guessed it, an ice cream shop.

Simmons, after receiving her diploma, made the decision to become a bigger part of Steve's business. She took a higher position in Steve's, even assisting in bringing new stores to different states. That was until 1983, when Steve's was sold and Simmons was left without employment.

So, what was Simmons to do? Well, there was one simple option of course.

Amy's Ice Cream Becomes A Reality In The State Of Texas

Simmons came upon a news article showing how quickly the city of Austin, Texas was growing, thanks to technological boom it was experiencing. It was then that Simmons had an idea, and brought her business partner, Phil Clay to the area. The goal was a simple one: bring a new ice cream shop to the city of Austin, Texas.

After consulting business owners in the area, Amy's Ice Cream was opened in Austin, Texas, right on Guadalupe street. Since then, it's led to more locations right here in the Lone Star State.

How passionate is she about her business? Well, just read what she said to MySA:

"Our mission statement, is to make people's day and that's everybody. So it's the mailman, it's, certainly your employees, your suppliers, your shareholders, your customers, like, just make a difference in people's lives. Because, our lives are stressful, and ice cream is this incredible vehicle for happiness."
