We're all a little stressed these days but the residents of New Mexico are wound really tight. So stressed that the land of enchantment's "state" was deemed most stressed state.

Their land may truly be "enchanted" and recreational marijuana may be totally legal but residents of the 47th state are far from easy going. Except for Old Mesilla - they all seem pretty chill. Probably because they get to hang out at Hacienda De Mesilla.

Seriously, a recent report ranked New Mexico as the most stressed state. Here's why ...

Off the top of my head, I would have guessed one reason New Mexicans are walking stress bombs would be the roads. Granted, driving around El Paso won't do much to ease your blood pressure but New Mexico is on another level.

They are the most dangerous state in the USA to drive in. On top of that, they also have some pretty shady cities, a few of which are near El Paso.

Those are just a couple of things I happen to have read, a report from Wallethub just added ex spouses and low household incomes to the list. Oh yeah, apparently, peeps there have crappy credit scores too.

According to KOAT, WalletHub says NM has the highest divorce rate, the 3rd highest number of single-parent households and the 3rd highest poverty rate in the USA. Factors which also landed New Mexico at the bottom of the list when it comes to individual credit scores, averaging, (around), 697.
