If you thought brunch drama peaked with “they’re out of mimosas,” Cuvee Culinary Creations in Houston said hold my shrimp and grits. Content creators Patrick Blackwood and Nina Unrated were mid–food review on August 16 when a black SUV introduced itself through the glass wall beside their booth. The camera was rolling, the plates were flying, and the word “whoa” suddenly had texture.

Moments earlier, Blackwood was singing the praises of the shrimp-and-grits martini. “Can I be upfront with you? I’m not a guy that hates grits, but this is the one, huh?” he said, right before the restaurant’s vibe changed from cozy to Fast & Furious: Brunch Shift. The window exploded, the table launched, and the pair’s review turned into found-footage cinema.

Instinct kicked in. Blackwood shoved Nina out of the way as staff sprinted in. Both were taken to the hospital and, thankfully, walked out the same day. The injuries were real. Blackwood needed seven staples in his thigh, three in his back, and stitches behind his ear, plus a constellation of cuts. Nina received stitches on both arms and a small facial cut. Scary, but survivable.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the driver thought the SUV was in park outside the restaurant at 2712 Eldridge Parkway. It was not. Gravity handled the rest. The result: two injured diners, one very confused dining room, and a brunch special no one ordered.

The duo posted the full video to their YouTube channel @UnratedExFiles, where it has already been viewed more than 100,000 times. Their caption reads like a thriller recap: sliders clink, glass shatters, everything goes sideways at 35 to 40 miles per hour. They credit a guardian angel for their luck and offer the kind of perspective you usually get from a mountaintop, not a booth: life is precious, forgive quickly, and do the thing you want to do today.

As for the food review, consider it a rave with an asterisk. The shrimp and grits were a hit. The drive-thru service could use work.
