‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 Officially Starting Production in June
Reports of Luke Cage Season 2 entering production seemed unusually sudden, especially so soon after The Defenders wrapped. Now, the man himself promises that Luke Cage will return to Harlem in a few months’ time, potentially pointing toward a 2018 premiere as well.
Where recent set photo confusion and casting rumors stirred Luke Cage buzz that Season 2 was already underway, star Mike Colter told audiences at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (or C2E2) that production would start in June, and likely last until March of 2018. The upcoming Defenders star has read at least a first few scripts for Season 2, which could lend credence to reports of the series casting a new villain.
With Jessica Jones Season 2 already in production, and Cage gearing up for a June shoot, it’s likely that Jones will take the first 2018 slot in February-March, with Luke Cage Season 2 arriving sometime in the summer. Daredevil Season 3 is also scheduled to go before cameras later this year, though Marvel has not addressed if Netflix will continue to premiere three seasons a year, after 2017’s Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher. Additionally, it has not yet been announced if Iron Fist will return for a second season, or perhaps take part in Luke Cage Season 2, given the characters’ frequent comic team-ups.
We’ll see what shakes out over the next few months, but what should we hope for from Luke Cage Season 2?
