Russell Westbrook scored 36 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had nine assists, and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Dallas Mavericks, 118-104, in Game 5 of the teams’ first-round NBA Playoff series in Oklahoma City on Monday night. The win allowed the Thunder to capture the best-of-seven series, 4-1, and advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs.

Kevin Durant added 33 points on Monday for the Thunder, who will play the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference semifinals.

Dirk Nowitzki had 24 points to lead the Mavericks. Dallas rarely had a healthy lineup in the series, and their reserves could not compete with the athleticism of Westbrook, Durant and the rest of the Oklahoma City squad.
