Open House Meetings Slated for Proposed Interstate Project
It's been discussed for awhile, now it's time for you to get informed about a possible new interstate near Texarkana.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is sponsoring two open house meetings to discuss and gather public input on the proposed route study and for upgrading US 59 between Texarkana and Queen City to interstate standards. This study includes possible routes on new location near Texarkana.
TxDOT is proposing to upgrade US 59 to interstate standards for the future I-369 in the area. This will include making the highway a controlled access facility with frontage roads servicing local property owners and businesses, as needed. This study includes possible routes on new location near Texarkana.
The meetings will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. each night. The Queen City Open House will be held on Tuesday, July 24, at Morris Upchurch Middle School, 500 5th Street, Queen City, Texas. The Texarkana Open House will be held on Thursday, July 26, at Liberty-Eylau High School, 2905 Leopard Drive, Texarkana, Texas.
All interested citizens are invited to attend this open house to express their views and discuss the project. TxDOT personnel will be available at each open house to answer questions and receive written comments from those in attendance.
Developers would like to basically transition U.S. Highway 59 to an interstate roadway from Texarkana to the Mexican border.
