A power outage has caused the cancellation of day classes this Monday at the main campus of Texarkana College in Texarkana.

Texarkana College spokesperson Suzanne Irwin said that Southwestern Electric Power Company is experiencing some interruption in service to the college's main campus.  The outage is impacting some, but not all of of buildings on campus.

However, since many of the students take classes in different buildings throughout the day, they decided to cancel all of day classes at this time.

Also impacted are High School Dual Credit students who travel to the Texarkana College main campus.  TC officials have notified all ISDs who participate in dual credit of the campus closure and have asked affected students to remain on their high school campus today instead of travel to the TC campus.

Irwin says that if service is resumed by early afternoon, they will hold evening classes as scheduled on the main campus. The college will notify students of the decision via the emergency notification system (RAVE ALERT), and also by email, social media (TC Facebook page), and at the Texarkana College website.

Irwin says this closure only impacts classes held on the main Texarkana College campus in Texarkana.  Classes at learning sites in Atlanta, Texas, and at the TexAmericas site are not impacted and are going on as scheduled.
