The Miller County Sheriff's Office in Southwest Arkansas is investigating an early-morning stabbing that left one man dead and his wife behind bars.

The Miller County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after 2AM today, January 5, to a 9-1-1 call at 15835 Miller County 10, near Fouke in reference to a stabbing.

Upon arrival, deputies found  35-year-old James Edward Fries suffering from a stab wound to the chest. LifeNet EMS arrived and began treatment but Fries was pronounced dead at the scene. Preparations are being made to send the body to Little Rock for an autopsy.

Deputies arrested 25-year-old Tarah Fries at the scene. She has been charged with murder in connection with the case and is being held at the Miller County Detention Center.

The  Miller County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas State Police are conducting the investigation into the deadly incident.
