Hurricane Laura

Hurricane Laura was big and caused a lot of damage in its wake. Even though we were spared major damage others to the east of us were not.  FEMA announced that federal emergency aid has been made available to the state of Arkansas to supplement state and local response efforts to the emergency conditions in the area affected by Hurricane Laura beginning Aug. 26, 2020, and continuing.

At approximately 1. a.m., Hurricane Laura made landfall near Cameron, Louisiana as a dangerous category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds. at150 mph with xatttstrophac storm surge.

The Miller County Office of Emergency Management has released information about Hurricane Laura. Below is the latest update.

Hurricane Laura continues to strengthen ahead of landfall and is headed straight to the Gulf. It's forecast to become a major hurricane before striking the Gulf Coast and is expected to strike upper Texas and Louisiana Coasts as a category 3.
